How to get to Ukulhas Island from Malé
Speedboat, ferry and private transfer options, with help from Ostrov to coordinate your arrival.
Speedboat is the usual way
Ukulhas sits about 72 km north of Malé and Velana International Airport, in Alif Alif (North Ari) Atoll. Most guests arrive by scheduled speedboat, usually around 60 to 90 minutes depending on sea conditions. A public ferry is slower and less frequent, and a private transfer suits groups or specific timing. Once we have your flight details, we help coordinate the transfer.

Book the boat, then the flight
Speedboat departures are set by the operator, not by your flight. Where you can, choose an international arrival that leaves comfortable time to connect, and avoid a very late-night landing. If your only option arrives late, plan an overnight near Malé or Hulhumalé and travel to Ukulhas the next morning.
- Aim to land with time to spare before the day's departures
- Share your flight details early so we can match a suitable boat
- Late arrivals may need an overnight near the airport
Coral Transfer
Coral Transfer is the standard speedboat service used by properties on Ukulhas. Check their page for current Ukulhas speedboat information before you book flights or accommodation. Schedules, seats and prices are set by the operator and can change.
- Current Ukulhas speedboat information in one place
- Book with the operator or through Ostrov's help
- Confirm departure point and timing before you travel
Ways to reach the island
Pick what suits your budget, group and timing. We can help with any of them.
Shared speedboat
A scheduled run to the island, usually around 60 to 90 minutes. The most common and economical way to arrive.
Private transfer
A dedicated boat for your group, with more flexibility on timing and luggage. Well suited to families and tight connections.
Public ferry
The cheapest, slowest route, often around four hours or more, running less frequently. Schedules vary, so check before you travel.
Overnight near Malé
If you land late, an overnight in Malé or Hulhumalé and a morning boat is often the most comfortable plan. We can advise.

Airport Counter D11, only if instructed
Some Ukulhas transfers ask arriving guests to report to Airport Counter D11 after immigration, where representatives help with transfer coordination. This does not apply automatically. Only head to D11 if Ostrov or Coral Transfer has specifically told you to, and we will confirm the exact meeting point when we arrange your boat.
- Clear immigration and collect your luggage
- Follow the arrival instructions we send with your transfer
- Go to Counter D11 only if you were asked to
- Board your speedboat for the ride to Ukulhas
Sea conditions and luggage
- Seas can be choppier in the wet season (roughly May to November); crossings may be slower.
- Keep essentials, medication and valuables in your cabin bag for the boat.
- Soft or waterproof luggage handles the jetty and boat best.
- Confirm your departure point and timing with the operator before travel.
- Tell us early if plans change so we can adjust the transfer.
Send us your flight details
Share your arrival date, flight number, time, number of guests and the property you have booked, and we will help coordinate a suitable transfer and send arrival instructions in one message.
